YCF COACHES

Some of the most innovative and creative minds in football led the charge in the Spring of 2018. Former head coach and general manager of the Green Bay Packers, Mike Sherman, and former NFL running back and ESPN analyst Merril Hoge served as head coaches for YCF’s inaugural games. They led an experienced staff comprised of former NFL and NCAA coordinators and position coaches.

Merril Hoge

Head Coach

Former NFL running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears and spent 21 years as an analyst for a variety of ESPN programs including NFL Live, NFL Matchup, NFL PrimeTime and SportsCenter.

Hoge will be responsible for hiring additional coaching staff, developing a roster of quality professional football players, executing training camp and practices and coaching one of the two YCF professional football teams.

Mike Sherman

Head Coach

Former Head Coach and General Manager of the Green Bay Packers and the Head Coach at Texas A&M. During his four-decade career he has also been an Offensive Coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins and has coached at UCLA, Pittsburgh and Holy Cross.

Sherman will be responsible for hiring additional coaching staff, developing a roster of quality professional football players, executing training camp and practices and coaching one of the two YCF professional football teams.

Kurt Schottenheimer

Defensive Coordinator

40 years of NFL and college coaching experience including Defensive Coordinator positions with Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions and Defensive Backs positions with Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams.

Schottenheimer is responsible for developing and installing the defensive game plan, developing the plans for player tryouts, practices and games and calling the defense for one of the two YCF professional football teams.

Tom Rossley

Offensive Coordinator & QB Coach

34 years of NFL and college coaching experience with teams including Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs and Texas A&M and served as the Head Coach at Southern Methodist University from 1991-1996. Rossley has coached many all-pro NFL QBs including Warren Moon, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers and Matt Hasselbeck.

Rossley is responsible for coaching the Quarterbacks and developing and installing the offensive game plan for one of the two YCF professional football teams.

Don Clemons

Defensive Assistant

35 years of coaching experience including 27 years with the Detroit Lions starting in 1985, Clemons has coached every defensive position at the NFL level.

Clemons is responsible for overseeing the coaching of each defensive position and assisting in installing the defensive game plan.

 

Jonas Jackson

Defensive Line Coach

15 years of coaching experience including 2 years as a Head Coach for West Virginia Wesleyan (NCAA DII) and 11 years as a defensive position coach. Jonas was previously the Defensive Line and Special Teams Coach at Savannah State (NCAA FCS).

Jackson is responsible for coaching the Defensive Line position.

Martin Bayless

Defensive Backs Coach

13-year NFL career as a cornerback/safety for teams including the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills. Mr. Bayless has served as a coach and in player personnel departments for various teams since 2000, including Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals.

Bayless is responsible for coaching the Defensive Backs position.

George Cortez

Wide Receiver/Tight End Coach

38 years coaching experience in college, CFL and NFL, including stops at Rice, Lamar, SMU(QB), Cal-Berkeley(OC); CFL: Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary(OC), Saskatchewan(OC), Hamilton(HC), B.C(OC); NFL: Buffalo(QB). Mr. Cortez coached 2 first round QBs at Cal, former Calgary QB Jeff Garcia went on to be a 4 time pro bowl QB, 4 Grey Cup MVPs.

Cortez is responsible for coaching the Wide Receivers and Tight Ends.

Robert Ford

Wide Receiver/Tight End Coach

40 years of NFL and college coaching experience including as Tight Ends Coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 1991-1998 where Mr. Ford won 3 Super Bowls. Mr. Ford held Receiver Coach and other positions for the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Mississippi State.

Ford is responsible for coaching the Wide Receivers and Tight Ends.

Cris Dishman

Defensive Backs Coach

13-year NFL career as a cornerback for the Houston Oilers, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins. Following his distinguished playing career Mr. Dishman has coached for the Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and Baylor University.

 

Dishman is responsible for coaching the Defensive Backs position.

Chick Harris

Running Backs Coach

33 years of NFL coaching experience including 12 years as Running Backs Coach of the Houston Texans. Harris has also served as Running Backs Coach for the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers.

Harris is responsible for coaching the Running Backs.

Art Kehoe

Offensive Line Coach

30-year coaching career at University of Miami, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech. Kehoe won 5 national championships at the University of Miami and is a member of the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame.

Kehoe is responsible for coaching the Offensive Line.

Chris Mosley

Offensive Line Coach

10 years of coaching experience in the NFL and college football, including Offensive Line Coach for the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Boston College.

Mosley is responsible for coaching the Offensive Line.

Bert Hill

Defensive Line Coach

30 years coaching experience in NFL and major college football, including seven years as the Defensive Line Coach at SMU and 14 years as Assistant Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach for NFL teams including Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins. Hill also served as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Texas A&M University and The Ohio State University.

Hill is responsible for coaching the Defensive Line position.
